God's Blessings Are On Those That Obey Him

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Was it ever good to see Eric's eyes finally fall shut tonight! He sure had a lot to say......"Mom, take my braces off." I said 'No." So he says, "I can!" and started jerking at the straps. "This my bed? Daddy make it." He sleeps in the bottom bunk of the toddler bunkbed that Jason built. And "Mom, sleep with this monkey!" Once Jason called him his little monkey, and Eric has been calling himself that ever since! Last evening Jason called him his little boy and he said, "No! I'm your little monkey!" In the middle of the night last night he cried for me and when I came to his bed I asked what was wrong. He just said simply, "There was a lion." At mealtime today I asked him about the lion, and he got real sober and said that the lion killed the monkey!
When I am hoping he is almost asleep he asks, "She my sister?"( meaning Venesa )
And that brings me to introducing this little sweetheart....Venesa Christianne seems happy to be learning to know her family who adores her. She was born on the due date. So far I have had all my babies that were born at home on a Sunday! It was a great labor and birth as far as no complications. We are so very thankful for that since we were on our own....again! The reason was not necessarily a fast labor, but a mix up in communication with our midwife. How do I say this with out making a short story long? :)
When Jason called at 7:00 in the morning to let her know I was in labor, she thought she was talking to the husband of the woman that was in labor though out the night, who had called her several times. After telling us she was packing her bags, and would be on her way shortly, she left for the other couples house!!
Two hours later Jason called to see why she hadn't arrived yet, and we were so surprised to find out she was at another birth! Our midwife thought she was hearing from us for the first time, and assured us that they'd be over as soon as they were done there. As it turned out, the babies were born 5 minutes apart!
I had the water birth like we had planned, and after our baby girl finally cried, Jason and I relaxed and enjoyed her all to ourselves for her first 3 hours. Cutting the cord by ourselves was a new experience. The midwife told Jason exactly how to go about it over the phone, and he did a great job.
(It wasn't my midwife's best of days..... the locksmith had to come out and unlock her vehicle before they could come to our place!) The duala was far more amused at the days events then the midwife.
We had a good time laughing and eating frosty strawberry square dessert while they (duala, midwife, and her daughter) sat around the bedroom talking, and doing things like weighing and measuring the new baby.
We have all been blessed to have Abigail Miller staying with us for nearly a week. She will go home tomorrow evening. I took Ryan , Jennika, and Ciara to the library this afternoon and we came home with piles of books. So this evening we had a 'book party'. We sat around and read books. I got some interesting cookbooks for Abigail and myself. Jason and Ryan liked the joke book and read off a bunch of really funny ones. At one point we were all laughing, and Eric looked at us and exclaimed,"That's not funny!" I said "So says the one that doesn't get it!"   This joke took awhile for me...A man told the policeman that his car got stolen!
When asked if he saw the man that stole it , he answered, "No, but I got the license number!"
Oh dear! I am really tired, and too bad it shows what time I posted this. :(
My baby hasn't actually been sleeping for very long though. She wasn't planning on an early night either.
