God's Blessings Are On Those That Obey Him

Monday, March 5, 2012

We've seen several signs of Spring in the last few days.... robins and even a dandelion in the yard.
Last night we got a wet and beautiful March snow. I told the children they could play outside after they got their
first subject done for today... so that is where they are now.  I love seeing them in their snowsuits. But finding mittens and gloves for every ones little hands...I think it is a wonder that I've not ever broken one of my children's little pinky's(the way they always get stuck at the end of the sleeve.) They were out in the woods for awhile...they said they were uncovering the flowers. I guess they meant the daffodils that come up each spring around the babies graves.  Ciara was crying cause they bumped the bird feeder, and it fell on her head! Ouch!
I feel like I wish I could be out there too...maybe take them on a walk. But I'd have to bundle up Venesa, and it feels really cold, although the snow is melting.
I've got lots of wash and house work waiting to be done....but I am doing what I often do after having guests the last couple of evenings; taking it easy. Taking a break...catching my breath. I should wait till nap time to do that!
The youngest are in already, with freezing hands and rosy cheeks. Ryan and Jen are building a snow castle, that might take a while. If only we had got up really early and had school done already! Can I figure this time for maybe art or physical ed?
Ok, I feel a bit better about sitting here, since the washer is running, Venesa has a dry diaper, and Eric is sitting on the potty. I am hopeful that he is close to finishing up potty training, cause he is aware and doesn't like to be wet. The other day he took his diaper off because it was wet, and threw it in the bathtub. (like I do before I get it to the diaper pail). I am going to make a 'going to the potty' book of  him to motivate him! I started taking pictures this morning... of boring old pampers vs 'Thomas the Tank Engine' shorts. :)  It should be a lot of fun....sometime I have to get a shot of him with a big wet spot on his pants...with his hand over his mouth and big eyes...UH OH! I know I'm kinda crazy, but potty training is fun!!! That is why I start when they are babies. The other reason would be cause I don't especially like the sight or smell of messy diapers! This is the first time for me to have 2 children in cloth diapers. So I'd be pleased if Eric would progress to those afore mentioned 'Thomas' shorts.
One special, 'out of the ordinary' thing we did a few days ago.... we went to a birthday party for a lady we know at Shady Lawn. She was turning 108!!! She is in a wheel chair, but her mind is very sharp. She told me she was born in 1904. Anyway, she was one of the first to leave the party! On her way out she told me"enough is enough!" How I love these older folks! Often I see their faces brighten, just to see a child's face.
And taking a new baby to visit at the nursing home.....Oh my! I told Jason that I was lucky to get her back!
She is five weeks now, and right on schedule, like most of my other babies, she broke out with the dreaded baby pimples... she doesn't have a real bad case, and I expect them to go away in a couple weeks, just like the other children's did. She does smile sometimes,we are looking forward to more. But yet I don't really like her changing so fast! You go though alot to have a baby, the pregnancy is so long compared to the precious few weeks that they are so tiny and newborn! I LOVE how peacefully she sleeps beside me at night, hardly waking to nurse. She sleeps well in her bed too, but tends to wake more often.
I really would like some fresh air, and for some reason,  a walk in the snow seems so inviting. Maybe if the
babies nap at the same time, I could slip out for a little?
